Join other Wake Foresters for a pre-Secrest gathering on Thursday, January 24 from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Enjoy refreshments and conversation before moving into Brendle Recital Hall for Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait.
Jenny Scheinman, an acclaimed composer, singer, and violinist, performs an original score set to 70-year-old archival films taken by the late North Carolina filmmaker H. Lee Waters. Scheinman and her musical sidemen create a living soundtrack of new folk songs, fiddle music, and field sounds to accompany Waters’ footage of the Piedmont in the early 1940s, assembled by film director Finn Taylor and editor Rick LeCompte. A multi-media work originally commissioned by Duke Performances at Duke University.
Registration includes refreshments, Secrest ticket, and reserved seating for the concert. The gathering will take place in the lounge just outside the band room (a corner nook of the Brendle lobby).
If you already have a ticket to Secrest and wish to join the pre-concert gathering, registration is $6 per person.
Thank you to WAKEWinstonSalem volunteer, Jean Dostal, for coordinating this gathering!
